As a part of a 24-hour design marathon for non-profit organizations, I conceptualized and drew the typography for the Kutztown University Homecoming logo in 2019. The theme of the event was “Avalanche (the school mascot, a golden bear) through the ages.” So I started thinking about songs that were popular in the 70’s and 80’s and the song Good Times Roll by the The Cars stood out to me. Since bears roar, I replaced “Roll” with “Roar” and the “O” in roar as the head of the mascot, Avalanche (drawn by MacKenzie Lewis). The type is also inspired by the 70’s which is when the famous song by The Cars was released.
